Personal Profile

Kate is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Management (at Massey University’s Wellington campus) where she teaches undergraduate and postgraduate papers in enterprise development. She is a Vice President of the Small and Medium Enterprise Association of Australia and New Zealand (SEAANZ); an Associate Fellow of the New Zealand Work and Labour Market Institute at the Auckland University of Technology; and co-editor of the journal ‘Small Enterprise Research’.

Research Profile

Kate researches in the area of entrepreneurship and small firms. Her particular area of expertise is age and entrepreneurship (i.e. younger and older entrepreneurs). Other topics of focus have included human resource management in small firms (including issues of work-life balance), enterprise policy and business assistance, and business growth. She currently is working on projects centred on environmental management in SMEs, entrepreneurial identity, older workers and self-employment, and social entrepreneurship.
